Tehran (IP) - We strongly condemned Israel not stopping aggression even during humanitarian operations after the tragic recent earthquake in Syria, said the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking before the Human Rights Council, Iranian envoy Ali Bahreini said in a statement: "The Council’s functioning should be guided by constructive dialogue and cooperation based on the principles of universality, objectivity, non-selectivity, and non-politicization."

"We are afraid that the report has once again failed to adopt a balanced approach in addressing the human rights situation in Syria and is nearly silent about the war crimes and human rights violations by the occupiers, aggressors, and terrorists. The report has also failed to reflect the negative impacts of the unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights of the Syrian people and the findings of the recent visit of the Special Rapporteur on the Negative Impact of UCMs to Syria," the statement reads.

"The Syrian people have been the victim of a protracted unjust war for 12 years leading to concurrent atrocities by terrorist groups. The recent earthquake in Syria has worsened the humanitarian situation for the people already in dire need of humanitarian assistance. This is while the Syrian people did not receive necessary humanitarian aid as a result of the politicization of humanitarian needs," the Iranian envoy highlighted.
