Iran Press/ Iran news: On Friday, January 27, 2023, a gunman attacked the embassy of Azerbaijan's Republic on Friday; He killed one security guard and wounded two others.
In a telephone conversation with his Azeri counterpart Ceyhun Bayramov, Iran's FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian condemned the armed attack on Azerbaijan's embassy and expressed condolence over the incident.
Amir-Abdollahian said that the incident should not be allowed to affect the relations between the two countries.
He proposed that the security services of the two countries pursue the case in close cooperation so that the different aspects of the incident became clear.
Ceyhun Bayramov, for his part, appreciated the sympathy of the Iranian FM and President and welcomed the proposal.
The Azeri president Ilham Aliyev insists on the idea that the incident is a terrorist attack.
The primary evidence shows that the gunmen's motivation to attack the embassy is personal, yet judicial investigations are underway to extract more about the motivation of the attack and its nature.
