Tehran(IP)- The third nationwide ceremony of honoring one million veterans of the Holy Defense and Resistance was held on Wednesday with the presence of a group of veterans of the Holy Defense and Resistance at the National Museum of the Islamic Revolution and Holy Defense on the occasion of Holy Defense Week.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Holy Defense Week is an annual event to commemorate eight years of resistance against the invading forces of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein who launched a war on Iran from September 22, 1980, to August 20, 1988. 

This ceremony was attended by Seyyed Mohammad Hasan AbuTorabi Fard, Mohsen Mansouri, Governor of Tehran, Mohammad Ghasem Nazer, the CEO of the National Museum of the Islamic Revolution and Holy Defense, and a group of veterans of the Holy Defense.

In the ceremony, Nazer said: "Sacred Defense is the inheritance of those who have proved that when the defense of the homeland and values ​​are at stake, no force can stand in the way."

He added: "Sacred Defense revived Islam, and one of its international achievements is the recognition of the Islamic Revolution; today, the success of the Islamic Republic of Iran is owed to the veterans and the families of the great martyrs."

After honoring several veterans and families of martyrs, at the end of the ceremony, a video communication was held with the Leader, and those present listened to him on the occasion of the holy defense week.
