Tabriz (IP)- The 18th of September, the anniversary of the death of Shahriar, a contemporary Iranian poet, has been named the National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature.

Iran PressIran news:  Seyyed Mohammad Hossein Behjat Tabrizi, known as Shahriar, was born in Tabriz in 1903 and died on September 18, 1988.

Shahriar has poems in Farsi and Azari written in lyrics, quatrains, couplets, odes, and elegies.

The Iranian poet has poems in Farsi and Azari such as "Ali O Homai Rahmat" and "Amadi Jaanam Beh Ghorbanat" in Farsi and "Heydar-Babaya Salam" in Azari as considered masterpieces of Azerbaijani literature.

Hadi Behjat Tabrizi, an expert in Persian literature and the son of Shahriar, in an interview with IranPress in Tabriz, pointed out the important role of Shahriarpromotingn in Persian poetry and literature and said that Shahriar was inspired by people's language and public life.

Morteza Toosi, an expert on Persian language and literature, said that Professor Shahriar was a representative of the romantic school of Iranian poetry, and if this school is analyzed, his significant role is obvious.

He added that before Shahriar, there were great and notable poets in Farsi literature, but Shahriar's privilege to other poets was his mastery of the forms of Persian poetry. Forms such as the ode were almost in decline before him, and he revived them again.

On the commemoration day of the notable Iranian poet, the museum of Shahriar hosts his fans and Farsi poetry and literature fans.

The tomb of Shahryar is located along with 400 other famous poets in Tabriz's Tomb of the Poets, one of the most important sightseeing places in Tabriz.
