Abadan (IP) - Debris removal from the collapsed building of Abadan called "Metropolis" in Khuzestan province, southwest of Iran, continues and rescue forces are removing debris completely.

Iran PressIran News: The "Metropolis" building in Abadan collapsed on Monday, and at the same time, the rescue operation of the rescue workers and the Red Crescent Society of Khuzestan Province began, and all medical facilities have been treating the injured.

Rescue workers from other provinces of Iran, including Tehran, have been sent to Abadan to help remove debris from the "Metropol" building in order to end the debris removal as soon as possible.

Pir Hossein Kolivand, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, told the Iran Press correspondent on Tuesday at the site of the collapse of Abadan's Metropolis building that relief work was continuing and that the division of labor had been completed to end the Debris removal as soon as possible.

The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society stated that 10 people have been killed and 39 injured in the collapse of the "Metropol" building in Abadan so far, and efforts are underway to reach the basement of the "Metropol" building.

According to Mohammad Hassan Nami, head of Iran's Crisis Management Organization, a number of people may have been trapped in the basement of the Abadan Metropolis building, and efforts are underway to reach the site.

Some sources and eyewitnesses stated that about 50 people are still under the rubble of the "Metropole" building in Abadan.

Sadegh Jafari Chegni, the Prosecutor General of Khuzestan Province, also announced the confirmation of the identification of  body of "Hossein Abdolbaqi", the main defendant, owner and contractor of the Abadan Metropolis building.

The Minister of Interior, the Economic Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Governor of Khuzestan attended the site of the collapse of the Abadan "Metropol" building and were closely informed about the incident and issued the necessary orders.
