Vienna (IP) - Russian envoy to Vienna talks to remove the US sanctions against Iran says intensive work on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is underway in Vienna.

Iran PressIran News: As the 8th round of the Vienna sanctions removal talks continued on Friday, the Russian Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov tweeted: "Intensive work on JCPOA is underway in Vienna."

"All three working groups (on sanctions lifting, nuclear issues and implementation/sequencing) are to meet today to address the remaining outstanding issues," he added.

Iran and the P4+1 have held a 3-hour expert-level working group meeting on nuclear matters, and the talks continued with the 3rd working group on implementation holding a session.

Also, the Russian envoy had a separate meeting with the US Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley, saying: "We are definitely moving ahead at the Vienna talks on JCPOA."

After weeks of intensive diplomatic consultations, the eighth round of Vienna negotiations to remove the unlawful sanctions, initiated on December 27, 2021, entered a break on Monday, February 7 and resumed on Monday.

Iran has repeatedly stated that, given that the US has been a violator of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Washington must return to the agreement with the lifting of sanctions and that the fulfillment of US obligations needs to be verified.
