Tehran (IP) - To follow health protocols, Iran’s president halted provincial trips until further notice.

Iran PressIran News: President Ebrahim Raisi’s decision was after Iran’s Health Minister Bahram Einollahi declared the start of a new wave of coronavirus pandemic in the country as hospitals report an increasing number of referrals with infections related to the Omicron variant of the virus.

At the meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, Raisi stressed the need to follow health protocols more precisely in the current situation, saying: “In order to comply with these guidelines and the need to protect the lives of citizens, the government’s provincial trips will not be made temporarily until further notice.”

Speaking on Saturday at the meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, Ebrahim Raisi thanked all those who are working in any way in the field of prevention and treatment of COVID-19, and said: “Concerning the re-emergence of coronavirus’ prevalence, it is necessary to be more sensitive to observing health protocols, and especially wearing masks.”

The president added: “It is necessary to explain the necessity of receiving the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine to the people in a wider way until the vaccination statistics of the booster dose reaches the statistics of receiving the first and second vaccine doses nationwide.”

Raisi pointed out: “Also, the related agencies such as the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and the Plan and Budget Organisation should pursue the provision of necessary resources to equip medical centers and eliminate any shortages and deficiencies in the field of equipment and drugs for corona treatment.”

Nationwide COVID restrictions to be different

The president stated: “Necessary coordination should be done with agencies such as the Red Crescent and various sections of the Armed Forces so that, if necessary, the capacities of these institutions, including their medical and treatment facilities, can be used to deal with special situations.”

Raisi emphasized: “The nationwide closure of schools and universities must not be done in the previous form and based on previous indicators, because it has caused many problems, including a very high academic level.”

The president pointed out: “Any information about the outbreak of coronavirus must be in full and accurate coordination so that while informing the people, it does not cause unnecessary concern in the society.”

Iran-UAE football match to be held without spectators

In today’s meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, it was approved that due to the increasing spread of COVID-19, the match between the national football teams of Iran and the UAE be held without the presence of spectators.
