Chief of Staff of Armed Forces:

Tehran (IP) - The Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces said that the eight-year Sacred Defense against the US-backed Iraqi war must be put into the spotlight as a means of transferring the national spirit to the next generations.

Iran PressIran news: Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri said on Tuesday that the 8-year Sacred Defense should be considered as a unique event in the history of the Iranian nation as a highly significant event in the national culture and spirit of the present and future generations.

General Bagheri made the remarks in the conference of the managers of Foundation for the Preservation and Publication of Sacred Defense Works and Values.

Iran Police Chief: Enemies want to defame our honors

As another speaker of the conference, Iran's Police Chief stressed that focusing on the publication of works on the 8-Year Sacred Defense would protect the country against the enemies' threats. 

Highlighting the historical defense as an honorable part of Iranian history, Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari said: "The enemies seek to defame our honors so that prevent them from being transferred to the next generations by creating ambiguity in them, and we should try to make these works as prominent as possible and pass them on to the next generation."

Forty-one years ago, in September 1980, Iraq's Ba'athist regime of Saddam, supported by then-Western and Eastern blocks of the world, triggered a war on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran had newly got independent from the world's powers.
