Tehran(IP) -The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in a televised speech on the anniversary of the people of Qom's uprising against the oppressive Pahlavi regime, said that the US calculations in different issues have always proven wrong, giving the example of Lt. Gen. Soleimani's assassination.

Iran PressIran News: On the occasion of the uprising of the people of Qom against the Pahlavi regime on January 9, 1978, (19 Dey), Iran's Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei delivered a speech to a group of visitors from Qom.

Stating that some historical events convey high messages to future generations, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "We should not let these incredible events be forgotten, and the uprising of January 9 (19 Dey) is one of them.

[Jimmy] Carter gave a speech at the same time and called Iran in the Pahlavi era the "island of stability," which was a miscalculation, said Ayatollah Khamenei.

The "island of stability" was the phrase that Jimmy Carter used to describe the circumstances of Iran under the leadership of the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, in the Christmas of 1977, just one year before the Islamic Revolution.

"These miscalculations of the United States still continues; the martyrdom of Soleimani is the newest one," the Leader added.

"They thought that by assassinating Soleimani, the great movement would be destroyed, and we saw that the great movement took place this year on the second anniversary of his martyrdom," Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted.

"The enemy's calculation system is ignorant and corrupt, and they can not have a correct assessment of the Islamic Republic, and they make wrong decisions and fail, and fail after that," Iran's leader noted.

Enemy seeks desensitization to Islamic Revolution's principles

Continuing his speech, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the enemy seeks the desensitization to the principles of the revolution on the agenda.

Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei stated that the Iranian people are sensitive to the fundamental issues of the Islamic Revolution, and if someone violates these principles, the people will take a stand, and the enemies want to reduce this sensitivity in the people gradually. "This is done through the extensive propaganda carried out these days in cyberspace and other foreign mass media."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed out that the Islamic Republic and the Islamic Revolution were formed for the rule of the religion of God. "It was formed to adjust the rule based on religion and move in this direction. People died and sacrificed their blood to make this happen, and this is one of the principles of the Islamic Revolution, which the enemy wants to weaken."

Iran has not and will not give in to the enemy's coercion and words

Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted that negotiating, talking, and interacting with the enemy is one matter, but Iran has not and will not give in to the enemy's coercion and words.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemies want to undermine the main principles of the Islamic Revolution, and this is part of the vast and varied soft warfare of the enemy, adding that this desensitization must be stopped.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated that those who think these principles are not beneficial to the people, the country, and the future is a misconception and injustice.

The speech of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, on the anniversary of this uprising was held every year in the presence of thousands of people from Qom in the Hussainiyah of Imam Khomeini in the past. But due to the necessity of observing health guidelines this year, it is broadcasting via videoconference.

The people of Qom are present in Imam Khomeini (RA) Hall in the holy shrine of Lady Masumeh (PBUH) in the city.

The January 9, 1978 Uprising was very crucial because it acted as a precursor for the next uprisings of people of different cities across Iran and shook the foundations of the despotic regime of Shah.
