Brazil (IP) – The commemoration ceremony for the second martyrdom anniversary of Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani and his companions was held at Imam Mahdi (AS) Islamic Center in the presence of Brazilian and Lebanese political and cultural figures in Sao Paulo.

Iran PressAmerica: Head of the International Peace Institute, Maria Socorro Gomes, stated at the ceremony on Saturday that Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani sought peace and fought for peace, and peace could not be achieved without fighting the oppressors.

Stating that Martyr Soleimani is the hero of all human beings, she underlined that the United States is the biggest terrorist in the world that violates human rights.

Sao Paulo City Council member, Lame Samaili also noted that Imam Khomeini was the savior of the Iranian nation from American domination, and Martyr Soleimani is a national hero.

General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) deputy head Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated along with their companions in a US drone strike authorized by former President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.

They were highly popular because of their key role in eliminating the US-backed ISIS terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

General Soleimani was assassinated by the US while he was in Baghdad at the official invitation of the Iraqi government.
