Iran MFA issues statement on 2nd anniversary of Gen. Soleimani's martyrdom

Tehran (IP) - "Martyr Soleimani had always played his role in contributing to the establishment of regional and international peace and security," the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Iran PressIran news: Issuing a statement on the occasion of the second anniversary of Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani's martyrdom, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the US' blatant assassination of the international hero of the fight against terrorism indicated the US' sheer support of terrorist groups.

The statement noted that the US assassination of General Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and their companions did not undermine the Resistance Axis but made Iran more integrated and the Resistance discourse more brilliant.

"The US assassination of General Soleimani was considered a "terrorist attack" and the White House was responsible for that," the ministry added.

The Iranian ministry reported the measures and actions taken in pursuing the case in political, legal, international, and diplomatic areas, resulting in the political and legal condemnation of the US in the world.

General Ghasem Soleimani, the head of the IRGC elite Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the Second-in-Command of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) were martyred along with 8 of their companions in the US strike on Baghdad airport on January 3, 2020.

General Soleimani was in Baghdad on the official invitation of Iraq's Government.
