AEIO Chief: New mechanism to be expected in Iran, Russia nuclear talks

Moscow (IP) - The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said Iran and Russia have decided to establish a different mechanism to expedite the tasks.

Iran PressEurope: Mohammad Eslami, who is in Moscow, in an interview while referring to his talks with Director-General of Rostam, Alexey Likhachev said: "We have reached the mutual understanding according to which we should establish the different mechanisms to accelerate the tasks."

In the event, the mutual understanding has been reached so that we could finalize our projects and plan in a nuclear field as soon as possible through a clear picture out of the situation."  

He called these projects in the field of health, development of the use of radiation and also in power plants, especially the management and operation of Bushehr power plant number one and the development of the second and third phases of the project and added: "We discussed and agreed with the Russian side on these issues as well as our commitments."

Eslami added: "It was also agreed that our financial payment obligations will be timed so that the project will not be delayed."

"And in a way, to prevent the continuation of the 22-month delay that has occurred so far, and in addition, to compensate for the delay created in the project by increasing the efficiency," he added.

Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mohammad Eslami and Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Russian State-owned Atomic Company, discussed the development of peaceful nuclear cooperation on Tuesday evening.
