Iran welcomes negotiation with tangible results: Amir-Abdollahian told UK

Tehran (IP) - The Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a telephone conversation with his British counterpart, stressed that Tehran would accept negotiations that ensure the interests of its people.

Iran PressIran news: In a telephone call with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Monday, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Robb expressed hope that relations and interactions between the two countries would expand based on mutual understanding.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian underlined Iran's expectation of lifting all illegal sanctions and reiterated: "Iran welcomes negotiations that would have tangible results and ensure the rights and interests of its people."

He also stressed the importance of taking confidence-building steps by the British government to resolve some problems in bilateral relations and said: "London's constructive and practical actions in these areas will be welcomed by Tehran."

London commitment to repaying Iran's claims

The British foreign secretary emphasized his country's practical commitment to repaying Iran's claims.

In addition to exchanging views on the international and regional developments, both sides agreed to continue talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Afghanistan Crisis

While expressing regret over the effects of the wrong policies of the United States and some Western countries towards Afghanistan, Amir-Abdollahian stated that the realization of security and stability in Afghanistan depends on the establishment of an inclusive government with the participation of all Afghan groups, paying attention to talk and avoid violence, attention to the people, and practical confrontation with terrorism.

Referring to Iran's hosting of about 2 million Afghan migrants over the past four decades, Iranian FM stressed the need for a sustained joint international responsibility in the face of new waves of refugees and countering narcotics distribution.

He also expressed Iran's readiness to facilitate humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
