Tehran (IP): President Ebrahim Raisi was sworn in as Iran’s President for a four-year term in an official ceremony held at the Iranian Parliament in Tehran on Thursday evening.

Iran PressIran News: Ebrahim Raisi kissed the holy Qur'an and took the oath of office before Parliament lawmakers, foreign officials and senior Iranian politicians.

The inauguration ceremony was aired live on Iranian state TV.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday gave the official seal of approval to Ebrahim Raisi who won a landslide victory and was elected as next President in Iran's Presidential Election on June 18, 2021.

To comply with the coronavirus health protocols, fewer guests have been invited to attend the ceremony.

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i, and Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi are the keynote speakers of this ceremony.

170 foreign and local journalists are going to broadcast Iran’s Presidential swearing-in ceremony.

Raisi sworn in to be guardian of Iran's Constitution

During the ceremony, Ebrahim Raisi stated that he tried to use all his talents and competencies to fulfill the responsibilities he had undertaken.

He added that he dedicated himself to serving the people and promoting religion and morality in Iran.

Raisi underscored that he would support the rights of people, promote justice, and refrain from any authoritarianism.

He highlighted that he should support the freedom and dignity of individuals and rights that the constitution counts for the nation, adding: "I should not hesitate to take any action to protect the borders and the political, economic and cultural independence of the country with the help of God."

After swearing in, he emphasized that the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in Iran marked a new chapter of freedom of political participation and democracy in the history of the country which was the product of the will and vote of the people.

He concluded that the will of the people was to put the country on the path of justice, the improvement of freedom and dignity.
