Mehran (IP) - The governor of Mehran said that according to the latest reports, the 5.2 magnitude earthquake in the Salehabad district of the city did not cause any casualties.

Iran PressIran news: In an interview on Sunday, Asad Qasemi said: "The financial damage caused by the earthquake is only to the extent of cracking the walls of houses and its extent is under evaluation."

He stated: "Assessment and relief teams are currently stationed in the area and are investigating the situation of the earthquake center."

According to the National Seismological Center affiliated to the Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran, the Salehabad-Mehran earthquake occurred at 9:24:22 Sunday morning.

The quake occurred at a latitude of 33.439 and a longitude of 45.980.

The quake struck at a depth of 9 km and no casualties or damage have been reported so far.

Salehabad district of the border city of Mehran is located 40 km south of Ilam.
