AEOI Cheif: Iran has leading role in Quantum technology in West Asia

Iran (IP)- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said on the sidelines of the National Center for Quantum Technologies' inauguration that Iran is a forerunner in quantum technology in West Asia.

Iran PressIran News: Ali Akbar Salehi added: "In 2016, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) started studies in the field of quantum technology, and in 2019, it carried out very important experiments such as producing pairs of intertwined photons."

He added: "These experiments were performed first in laboratories, then at a distance of 300 meters and two months ago at a distance of 1630 meters."

The head of AEOI said that investment in quantum is increasing every day in the world, noting that various countries have entered this field quickly; for example, India, China, the United States and Europe have invested a lot, and China is leading in investment.

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization stated that the quantum technology roadmap was prepared for the European Union six years ago, adding: "We also started working in 2017 and prepared the roadmap at the same time, and in terms of the time we are not far behind from the European Union, our investment is not comparable with theirs in terms of volume, but we are moving forward in line with others."
