Iran-China

Tehran (IP): Chairman of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations said that the 25-year cooperation document between Iran and China was a roadmap to guide cooperation between the two countries in various fields over the coming years.

Iran PressIran news: Kamal Kharrazi on Wednesday said, "The Iran-China cooperation document is not a contract or agreement that contains details of cooperation between the two countries in the next 25 years, but a plan and roadmap to guide cooperation between the two countries in various fields over the coming years."

He added: "As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has explained in its statement, this document contains the outlines of long-term cooperation between the two countries in the political, strategic, economic and cultural fields."

"The document has been formulated based on the sixth paragraph of the statement of the two presidents, which was signed during the Chinese president's visit to Iran in 2015, and the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations encouraged the relevant officials of the two countries to draft a document and sign it,” added Kharazi.

In response to a question about the role of Ali Larijani in the approval of the document, he said: "Given that governments in Iran will change in the next 25 years, the Chinese government insisted that a representative of the system should also be involved in this document, so Ali Larijani, as an advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, played such a role to emphasize the continuation of the cooperation.”

Referring to the reason that why the full text of the document would not be released, Kharrazi said: "There are other countries that have signed a similar document with China and will not publish it at all because the strategic cooperation documents are related to the national security of the countries and they will not publish such documents.”
