Tehran (IP) - The Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized AFC for depriving Iran of its rights to host the qualifying games of the 2022 world cup as a politically motivated act.

Iran Press/Iran news: Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Sunday said that his country would not consider the decision as an athletic act, but rather a political decision.

Noting that the ministry of foreign affairs adopted athletic diplomacy in response to the decision, Khatibzadeh stressed that the ministry would make its utmost efforts to achieve the best results for the football advocates.

He made the remarks at a joint meeting on Sunday attended by the Minister of Sport and Youth Masoud Soltanifar, the Chairman of Olympics National Committee Reza Salehi Amiri, and the Chairman of Iran's Football Federation Shahabedin Azizi Khadem to address the getting back of Iran's right to host 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

According to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Bahrain will host the final four matches of the Iranian national football team in the qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Chairman of the Olympics National Committee Reza Salehi Amiri also earlier criticized the move as against all of the athletic principles and ethical codes, which he maintained should be considered within a bigger political puzzle.
