Tehran (IP) - The governor of the Central Bank of Iran and the ambassador of Japan to Iran discussed ways to use Iran's banking resources in Japan.

Iran PressIran News: During the meeting, which was held at the request of the Japanese Embassy in Iran, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Abdolnasser Hemmati referred to previous meetings with senior Japanese officials and recalling his emphasis on ending the former US administration's maximum pressure, saying: "Friendly countries should cooperate regardless of political pressures."

Hemmati further stressed the need to use Iran's foreign exchange resources in Japan, adding: "The Japanese side should take the initiative regarding Iran's use of these resources and their transfer to other bases required by the Central Bank of Iran."

Appreciating the Central Bank of Iran's efforts to accelerate the payment of debts of Iranian companies to the Japanese side, the Japanese ambassador to Iran suggested the use of the available resources to purchase the coronavirus vaccine, stressing the Japanese Embassy's efforts to establish links between the two countries' central banks for better progress of affairs and resolving banking issues.
