Tehran (IP) - The spokesman for the Taliban's political office in Doha, Qatar, said the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Afghan peace process was positive.

Iran Press/Iran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press News Agency, Suheil Shaheen stated that Iran and Afghanistan were two neighboring countries and should cooperate with each other, adding that the Taliban group opposes the US occupation of Afghanistan.

The spokesman for the Taliban's political office in Doha, Qatar, stressed that the United States had occupied Afghanistan for the past 20 years and that the Taliban had stood up to the United States and fought against its occupation of Afghanistan.

He also said that the Afghan peace talks in Doha aimed at resolving the country's problems and that all Afghan jihadist groups were present at the talks to discuss Afghanistan's problems together.

The Taliban political delegation held a press conference in Tehran on Monday evening after several days of consultations in Tehran and talks with senior Iranian officials, including the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, and members of the Taliban political delegation answered reporters' questions.
