Freetown (IP) - Iranian Red Crescent Society and the Ministry of Health of Sierra Leone memorandum of cooperation was extended.

Iran PressAfrica: According to the memorandum, the Iranian Red Crescent Society can modernize the equipment, set up a specialized department, including gynecology and obstetrics, and hemodialysis in a medical center.

Based on the draft memorandum of cooperation which will be exchanged until Monday, it was also decided that the parties will provide their expert opinions for further discussions on this memorandum so that they can play an effective role in providing services.

The specialized departments of gynecology and obstetrics, hemodialysis, and maternal and child services are among the topics required by the Sierra Leonean Ministry of Health in Freetown to provide services, which will be addressed in this memorandum.

On Saturday, in a meeting with Christian Fayia, the Head of the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society, the President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society Karim Hemmati referred to the sincere relations between the two countries and said: “The Iranian Red Crescent Society continues to provide services in Sierra Leone, despite all the challenges and problems caused by US sanctions.”

Referring to the events that have taken place in the country over the past few years, the head of the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society also said that events such as the Civil War from 1991 to 2003, the outbreak of infectious diseases such as Ebola, tuberculosis, coronavirus, and landslides during these years have plagued Sierra Leone. He noted that the assistance of the Iranian Red Crescent Society to this country in the field of medicine and treatment has been very useful and effective and has supported their plans.
