Iran Press/ America: Referring to last week's riots in the United States and the attack by Donald Trump supporters on Congress, acting Washington's Attorney General Michael Sherwin claimed that pipe bombs had been planted during the protests in front of the Republican and Democratic Party offices in Washington.
As thousands of supporters of US President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, federal agents were working at the same time to detonate two pipe bombs found just blocks away at the offices of the Republican and Democratic national committees.
"These bombs were detonated with explosives and timers," he said.
"Those who planted the bombs will definitely be arrested and punished," he said.
The threat is substantial in Washington, where many government buildings, including the U.S. Capitol, are usually open to the public and thousands of tourists wander through massive museums and some of the most iconic monuments in the country at all hours of the day and night and can even get close to the White House.
On the last Wednesday night, as a joint congressional was underway to finalize the victory of Joe Biden in the presidential election, a group of Trump supporters who had gathered in front of the building stormed inside.
Six people were killed and 10 Washington D.C. police officers were injured in an attack on the US Congress building. 219
