Iran Press/ Iran News: In response to Iran Press question on the US destroyer's presence in the region, Major General Hossein Salami stated that Iran stood firm against any enemies' measures in the region.
Attending Lieutenant- General Qasem Soleimani's martyrdom anniversary held at Tehran University on early Friday, Salami highlighted that US presence in the Persian Gulf was not something new.
"We have witnessed US adventurisms many times but will stand firmly against them all with the resounding response while any enemies' actions and scenarios have been anticipated," stressed the IRGC chief.
The US has decided to send home the only Navy aircraft carrier operating in the Middle East, a move that would reduce the US military presence in the region.
The Pentagon announced on Thursday that the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier would return from the Persian Gulf to Bremerton, Washington.
US officials told Reuters that the departure of the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier from the Persian Gulf region was aimed at easing tensions in the region.
