Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Iranology Foundation, described Martyr Larijani as a person who left behind a glorious legacy and a highly respected name. If he had to be summarized in one word, it would be “statesman”, a genuine one at that.

In a ceremony to commemorate Martyr Ali Akbar Larijani, held on Saturday in Tehran, Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Iranology Foundation, said that he was known for his patience, tolerance, and serenity, even in the most challenging conditions. Despite difficult circumstances, he remained composed, demonstrating remarkable poise and dignity.

Dr. Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), attained martyrdom late on Monday, 16 March 2026, in an American-Israeli act of aggression.

His young son, Mortaza Larijani, the SNSC deputy for security, Alireza Bayat, and a number of their bodyguards were also martyred in the same attack, which came 18 days after the US and the Israeli regime launched an unprovoked aggression against the Islamic Republic.

"The foundation’s president emphasized that Dr. Larijani exemplified deep reflection, wisdom, and prudence; he was a person of mysticism and knowledge, an alumnus of Sharif University of Technology, and a philosophy professor. All qualities that elevate a person’s stature, science and faith, were beautifully combined within him," Salehi said.
