At dawn on Thursday, Israeli occupying forces stormed various areas of the occupied West Bank, raided the homes of Palestinian citizens, subjected them to "field investigations," and then arrested a number of them.

Why it matters:

Arrest and killing of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank may well affect the so-called peace process in Gaza, and there is already talk of the Gaza peace deal stalling.

Driving the news:

The Israeli army has raided many homes in and around the southern West Bank city of Al-Khalil (Hebron), as well as the city of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank, arresting many young Palestinians.

On the ground:

The occupying forces raided the Al-Arroub refugee camp in the northern part of the city of Al-Khalil, in the southern occupied West Bank, and arrested Mahmoud Abed Jawabra and Nour Maher Al-Sharif, transferring them to a military observation post in the western part of the camp. The occupying forces also arrested several Palestinian youths and interrogated them at a farm in the village of "Al-Tuwaneh" in "Masafer Yatta" in southern Al-Khalil (Hebron), and then released them.

At dawn on Thursday, the occupying forces raided the village of Al-Jawaya east of Yatta, stormed several homes, searched them, and tampered with their contents without reporting any arrests.

The occupying forces also, early this morning, arrested Murad Ishtawi, Director of the Wall and Settlement Affairs Department, after raiding his home in the village of Kafr Qaddum, east of the city of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank, in addition to the previously released prisoner Mamdouh Bari, after raiding his home in the village of Sanriya in the southeast of the city.

The occupying forces stormed the city of Qalqilya from the 'southern checkpoint' and expelled military reinforcements from the 'northern checkpoint' while simultaneously searching several homes and tampering with their contents. Israeli special forces surrounded the house of 'Abdulrahman Al-Nimr' in the eastern neighborhood of Jenin in the occupied northern West Bank, simultaneously with heavy shooting in the neighborhood and around the house. These sources stated that the occupying forces arrested and harassed a number of young men and citizens after taking them out of the surrounded house.

The Jenin Directorate of Education, in turn, announced that public and private schools have been postponed for one hour due to the attack of the occupying forces on the Al-Marah and Al-Sharqi neighborhoods in the city.

What to watch:

Whether Israel will continue with its raids in the occupied West Bank, the number of arrests that the Israeli military makes, and the way young Palestinians are treated while in Israeli custody, will all have a bearing on the so-called peace process currently underway in Gaza.
