Tehran (IP) - Iran's president says Iran's economic growth was despite the country's worst oil revenues.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a press conference on Monday, December 14, with local and foreign journalists: "Seven years and a few months have passed since his government started and seven months and a few days are left."

"I thank God for putting the burden of running the country on our shoulders in the most difficult conditions of the last century, and today, considering the economic war and the coronavirus, we are witnessing the hardest days and months of our country," he said.

The president added: "We must divide the last seven years into two parts; The period before the imposed economic war and the period of the imposed economic war."

"Our economic growth was negative at 7.7 percent and inflation was 30 percent, which is unprecedented after the war," he said, noting that "We reduced inflation to 15 percent and our economic growth was despite the worst oil revenues."

"This income before the 11th government was about $100 million a year, and our government in its best conditions was equal to the worst conditions of the previous government. That is, in 2012, and on average in the years when our oil revenue was good, it was about $52 million. Despite the fact that we had the lowest oil revenue in 2014, it dropped from $100 million to $30 million, President Rouhani said.

Iran has the upper hand in joint oil, gas fields

President Rouhani said: "Iran has become self-sufficient in energy, including gas, gasoline, diesel, and oil."

He added: "For the first time in the 11th and 12th governments, the country's production of sweet gas increased from approximately 600 million cubic meters to one billion million cubic meters."

"We have been able to make progress in the joint gas and oil fields. In the joint gas field, Iran exploited more than Qatar, and in the joint oil field with Iraq, we increased from 70,000 barrels to 400,000 barrels."

"In other important fields, such as agriculture and industry, our situation in agriculture will increase from 97 million tons to 123,000 million tons, and by the end of this government to 130 thousand million tons," Rouhani said.

"This year, in addition to the economic war, we were also grappling with the coronavirus. The government is trying to complete its unfinished projects for the rest of its time," the president highlighted.

The government did what promised people

"In 2016, we had the highest economic growth in the world, and in many areas, we did what we promised the people," President Rouhani said, adding: "Our promise was moderation, constructive interaction with the world, the lifting of sanctions on the people, and the registration of nuclear rights for the Iranian people. We saved the country from the so-called possible military dimensions (PMD) of the nuclear program and the difficult conditions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The actions we took during this period were good economic management."

Rouhani highlighted: "We reduced the electricity losses to single digits. Our electricity generation is higher than the average of other governments. In the field of industrial production in the field of steel production, we have doubled our products. Aluminum production increased by 70%. We had very important inaugurations this year, despite the coronavirus conditions."

He emphasized: "My request to the media is to compare the achievements and products of the 11th and 12th governments with the previous governments, and we can reach a point where we can get an acceptable score."
