Israeli media reported Monday that four Israeli forces were killed in the Gaza Strip when resistance forces attacked their armored vehicle during operations.

Why it matters:

In the past month, a large number of Israeli soldiers have been killed by Palestinian resistance forces, an issue that challenges the Israeli narrative of victory over Hamas.

The big picture:

4 Israeli soldiers were killed in different areas of Gaza, including Khan Younis, Jabalia, the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, and Al-Shuja’iyya. The Israeli forces these days, especially after the U.S.-Israeli 12-day war on Iran, are attacked in Hamas forces' ambushes. The toll is going high.

More details:

Some Israeli sources also reported that several soldiers were killed in a security incident in the Jabalia area in northern Gaza. The Jabalia area has witnessed heavy artillery fire and flights by fighter jets and helicopter gunships over the past few hours. Three simultaneous security incidents were reported in the neighborhoods of Shuja'iya and Al-Tuffah in Gaza City, as well as in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Go deeper:

Hamas recently announced the start of a new phase in its war of attrition. The deaths of dozens of Israeli forces over the past month have fueled growing criticism of Prime Minister Netanyahu's cabinet for persisting with the war.
