Sheikh Maher Hamoud:

In a message read at the international conference of “Imam Khomeini and the Palestinian Cause,” Ali Akbar Velayati, Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, emphasized that Imam Khomeini foresaw the broader ambitions behind the creation of the Israeli regime, warning that normalization efforts would only enable further aggression.

Why it matters:

The speech emphasises that resistance to the Israeli regime is a religious and civilizational imperative.

The big picture:

Velayati’s remarks, delivered by Ayatollah Mohammad Hassan Akhtari, head of the Presidential Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People’s Islamic Revolution, echoed core principles of Imam Khomeini’s anti-Zionist doctrine.

What he's saying:

“The goal of the major powers in creating Israel does not end with the occupation of Palestine. They seek to bring all Arab countries to the same fate,” his remarks quoted Imam Khomeini as saying.

Imam Khomeini viewed the Israeli occupation not as an isolated geopolitical issue but as a global conspiracy by the “Global Arrogance” to weaken the Muslim world.

The statement warned that normalization agreements like Camp David were betrayals of Islam and tools for legitimizing the Israeli regime’s aggression.

“Imam (RA) always warned that the occupation of Palestine would not be the end of the Zionists’ project.”

“Repeated Israeli aggressions against Lebanon, Syria, and other countries today prove the accuracy of that historical forecast.”
