Iran Press/ Iran News: The social deputy of the police force of the Islamic Republic of Iran Colonel Einullah Jahani thanked the people for observing the travel ban regulations and the Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.
In an interview with IRIB on Thursday night, he noted that a small number do not comply with these regulations, adding: "Vehicles that do not comply with the corona restrictions will be confiscated and violating drivers will be prosecuted."
Jahani added: "Traffic on the Tehran-Qom freeway has decreased by 82% compared to the week before the start of the corona special restrictions plan."
"Traffic on the Rasht-Qazvin freeway has decreased by 78%, Haraz road by 50%, Chalous road by 83% and in general, by 40% in the country," he said.
He stated that about 10,169 law enforcement officers are implementing the plan, adding that 2,064 teams are patrolling and monitoring the implementation of the plan, and police forces are stationed at 1,799 points.
New restrictions, including partial lockdowns and curfews, have come into effect across Iran as an alarming surge in COVID-19 infections continues unabated.
Officials updated a color-coded list of cities and counties based on the number of confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations, which classify them from “white” denoting no danger to “red” which shows the highest level of alarm.
