Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman referred to Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde's tweet, saying that the information of the Swedish authorities regarding the situation of Iranian national, who is in prison due to security crimes, is incomplete and wrong.

Iran Press/Iran News: Saeed Khatibzadeh also added that as Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif explained to Ms. Linde during the phone talk, the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran is independent and any interference in the issuance or execution of judicial rulings is rejected and unacceptable.

Ahmad-Reza Jalali was arrested in April 2016 in Tehran on charges of espionage and transferred to prison.

The Tehran Prosecutor's Office announced on December 25, 2017, that Ahmad-Reza Jalali has admitted to meeting with foreign intelligence agents eight times and has received funds in this regard.

Swedish media reported in February 2018 that the Swedish government had granted citizenship to Jalali who only had a permanent residence permit in the country.
