Iraq's Joint Operations Command has prepared a new plan to fight terrorism and pursuit the remnants of ISIL cells.

Iran Press/Middle East: The Iraqi Security Information Office said in a statement on Sunday night that the plan was to eliminate ISIL cells and deprive their remnants of natural and geographical factors that would help them hide.

In this regard, the Samarra Operations Command, in cooperation with the Federal Police, the Popular Mobilization Forces (Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi), the Army Technical-Engineering Unit, and Army Aviation support carried out a search and clearing operation on the island of Umm Jarish in the middle of the Tigris River.

According to the Iraqi Security Information Headquarters, 10 hideouts of the ISIS terrorist group inside the island were discovered and completely destroyed in the operation.

The Popular Mobilization Forces announced they had dismantled a terrorist cell in the western province of Anbar.

Al-Hashd al-Shabi forces arrested members of the ISIL terrorist cell in the al-Karama area, who had previously assassinated a traffic policeman in Anbar province.

Despite various operations by Iraqi security forces to clear the country of ISIL terrorists, the remaining elements and scattered cells of the terrorist group are still active in some areas of Diyala, Kirkuk, Ninawa, Salah al-Din, Al-Anbar, and Baghdad provinces.

In 2017, after three years of fighting, Iraq declared victory over the terrorist group ISIS.
