Iran (IP): Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria on Saturday to discuss the latest developments on the Syrian crisis.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in the meeting with Geir Otto Pedersen referred to sabotage in finding a political solution for the Syrian problems saying during the past years whenever good opportunities were found the nullifying attempts on behalf of some countries thrown away the opportunity.

Zarif also went on to stress the need to lift oppressive and unjust sanctions against the Syrian government and people, especially amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

During the meeting, Pederson briefed the Foreign Minister on the latest situation of the Syrian Constitutional Review Committee and its efforts to hold the next meeting, referring to the collaboration of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the United Nations in resolving the ten-year Syrian crisis, and stressed the importance of Iran's role played in the process.
