Tehran (IP) - Iran's president at the inauguration ceremony of 13 transportation projects called transportation a key basis for a surge in production, the development of tourism, and deepening relations with the world.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking on Thursday at the inauguration ceremony of 13 transportation projects around the country, President Hassan Rouhani referred to Iran's special geographical situation in the region and the world, saying, "The overfly of 1400 flights from Iran's airspace indicates that our country's position, not only in the air transport sector but also in rail, road, and port sectors is very special and valuable."

13 motorway and airport projects around the country officially start operation at President's order through video conferencing.

In the ceremony that was held on Thursday in the 33rd week of the "Prudence and Hope for Surge in Production" campaign, Hassan Rouhani ordered the beginning of the first and second parts of the 63-kilometer-long East Bypass of Isfahan, 97 kilometers from the Southern Coastal Highway Corridor in Hormozgan, the second lane of the 24-km Southern Bypass of Kerman, and 10 airport projects in Isfahan, Tabriz, Mashhad, Shahroud and Gorgan via video conference.

Over 3.14 trillion Tomans of credit have been spent on these projects.

Malice of US hindered renovation of Iran transportation fleet

President Rouhani in his remarks also said that if the US government had not acted maliciously, Iran's transport fleet would have been renovated.

Referring to the US enmity in recent years, he said: "One of the conspiracies that the Americans had against the Iranian nation was that the region's main transit routes should not pass through Iran. They made lots of effort, but their success was not great."

"In the past, we had to use second-hand planes, but in the first months after the nuclear deal, we imported 16 passenger planes, but due to the malice of the US government, we were prevented from continuing to work at the required speed," Rouhani highlighted.
