Tehran (IP) - The Director of International Affairs of Iran's Defense Ministry stressed the importance of lifting of Iran's arms embargo, saying: "There will be a new opportunity by the end of the arms embargo against Iran, and we have appealing weapons for sale to the world."

Iran Press/Iran News: Pointing to the importance of lifting of Iran's arms embargoes in the UN Security Council, 2nd Brigadier General Mohammad Ahadi added: "Iran has been under an arms embargo since the victory of Iran's Islamic Revolution, and the eight years of imposed war against Iran by Iraq's dictator Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath regime in 1980 has become an excuse for the West and the East to intensify arms embargoes on Iran."

Explaining the importance of lifting of the arms embargo on Iran, he said: "The fact that sanctions have boosted our growth does not mean that we welcome sanctions, but rather we turned this threat into an opportunity to defend security, and we could not wait for the sanctions to be lifted, hence we strengthened the defense industry."

Ahadi continued: "With the end of the arms embargo on Iran, we have plans to meet part of the defense needs in the field of upgrading our knowledge and technologies at a lower cost."

The Director of International Affairs of Iran's Defense Ministry stressed: "During the visits by other countries' defense delegations to Iran, military products were introduced to them, and in several cases, contracts were concluded, which we postponed the implementation of these contracts to the time when the arms embargoes on Iran were lifted to respect international commitments. Moreover, we let the enemies know that we are enforcing all our arms deals these days and that the United States can do nothing."
