Iranian para athlete Beit Sayyah, who won a gold medal and established a new Paralympic record in the men's javelin throw F41 category at the Paris Paralympics 2024, has been disqualified in a contentious decision.

Beit Sayah had won gold with a new Paralympic Record throw of 47.64m while Navdeep finished second with 47.32m but the Iranian was later disqualified in a controversial move.

In a decision that came as a shocker to many, Sayyah had his medal snatched away for displaying a religious flag during his victory celebration on Saturday.
