Iranian grandmaster Alireza Firouzja

Iranian grandmaster Alireza Firouzja finished in second place at the Altibox Norway Chess tournament.

Iran Press/Europe: Firouzja defeated Polish grandmaster Jan-Krzysztof Duda in the standard game and came second with 18.5 points, allowing him to obtain a prize of 33,726 euros.

Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen came first with 19.5 points in the event and won the top prize of 63,803 euros.

Carlsen praised Firouzja, describing him as an emerging talent and a potential future world championship opponent.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, it was the first face-to-face chess super tournament and held in Stavanger Norway.
