Iran Press/Asia: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in the southern province of Yunnan at the head of a high-ranking delegation on Friday to meet and hold talks with his Chinese counterpart on Saturday, October 10, 2020.
Responding to a reporter's question about recent US sanctions against Iran on Saturday, Hua Chunying said that Washington, in defiance of the goals and principles of the UN Charter and the principles of international law, had arbitrarily resorted to unjustifiable unilateral measures such as economic blockade and financial sanctions.
The Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman added: "These measures have severely weakened the international political and economic order and weakened global sovereignty, and have reduced the ability of sanctioned countries to develop their economies and improve people's lives."
Hua Chunying also said that these US actions and actions negatively affect the fundamental rights of innocent civilians, including women, children, the elderly, and the disabled.
"Because the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading around the world, unwarranted unilateral US action is restricting the transportation of medicine and medical equipment and hindering the efforts of sanctioned countries to curb it," she said.
China's foreign ministry spokeswoman said the UN secretary-general and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights had called for calm and unilateral action. During the General Assembly sessions, the leaders of the countries repeatedly called for the elimination of unjustified unilateral actions.
She added: "China, during the plenary session of the Third Committee of the General Assembly on October 5, on behalf of 26 countries called for the immediate and complete elimination of unilateral coercive measures."
Hua Chunying stressed: "China calls on the United States to respond to the voice of international justice, stop unilateral actions, and return to the path of global solidarity and international cooperation as soon as possible."
