Zamfara (IP): About 30 farmers were killed in Zamfara State, Northwestern Nigeria on Friday, including a respected Islamic cleric.

Iran Press/Africa: In a press release signed by the Zamfara State Police Command's spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, the terrorist bandits attacked two Local Government Areas, Maradun and Tsafe.

During the the attack on Maradun Local Government Area, many people were killed, among them a renowned Islamic cleric, Mallam Makwashi Maradun Mai Jan-Baki while two of his sons are still missing.

Also in Tsafe Local Government Area, the terrorists bandits raided Bilbis village, leaving at least 20 people dead and many wounded.

Many villagers fled their homes to urban as a result of daily armed bandit attacks.

Apart from kidnapping for ransom and cattle rustling, the terrorist bandits in Zamfara State have in the last couple of years been imposing varied taxes on local farmers as an additional means of earning money.

Despite the claim of the Nigerian Security forces and politicians ruling that they are fighting the terrorists, there is no sign of ending the banditry in the West African country. 204
