Iran (IP)- A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ports and Maritime Organization and one of the foreign shipping companies operating in the Caspian Basin, according to which Ro-Ro vessels in all northern ports of the country are subject to the discount and regular Ro-Ro shipping line between Iranian and Russian, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan ports will be established.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Ports and Maritime Organization and one of the largest foreign shipping companies, Deputy Minister of Ports and Maritime Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization, Farhad Montaser Koohsari said: "In this memorandum of understanding, the necessity of expanding the transportation of goods by face-to-face vessels in the Caspian Sea was emphasized."

Referring to the existing restrictions on the entry and movement of land fleets to the CIS countries and the Caucasus region, he clarified: "The use of existing maritime capabilities and Ro-Ro vessels in the ports of Amirabad and Nowshahr should be on the agenda."

Kuhsari pointed out: "To make more use of the capacity of the northern ports, a working group has been formed in the presence of representatives of the International Transport Association, the General Office of Transit of the Roads and Transportation Organization, companies and shipping lines operating in the Caspian Sea."

The Deputy Minister of Ports and Economic Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization added: "In order to develop cooperation with neighboring countries, the traffic of Ro-Ro vessels from the northern ports of the country will be carried out according to a regular schedule."

He stated: "By signing the memorandum of understanding, we will see the development of maritime cooperation with northern countries."

Kouhsari pointed out: "One of the most important achievements of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ports Organization and the Foreign Shipping Company is the provision of a discount of up to 80% on all port fees, tolls and costs for Ro-Ro vessels in all northern ports of the country."

The Deputy Minister of Ports and Economic Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization added: "Docking of all Ro-Ro ships in the northern ports of the country out of turns and establishing a regular Ro-Ro shipping line between the ports of Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are other benefits of the MoU."
