The British Foreign Secretary in the UK Parliament confirmed the disagreement with the United States regarding the return of the arms embargo on Iran.

Iran PressIran news: The British Foreign Secretary, Dominic Rabb, stated in a parliamentary session on Tuesday that the British stance regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is clear.

He further added that US lawmakers' perceptions of how to restore Iran's arms embargo - known as the snapback mechanism - differ from those of the British side.

The United States has failed to pass a UN Security Council resolution approving a draft resolution extending its arms embargo on Iran. And despite its withdrawal from the JCPOA, it intends to use the 'snapback mechanism, which is reserved only for members participating in the agreement, to reinstate UN sanctions against Iran.

The decision was strongly opposed by members of the UN Security Council.

Referring to the detention and trial of dual nationals in Iran, the British Foreign Secretary noted that he had spoken to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif about the dual nationalities detained and imprisoned in Iran.

Rabb stressed that the country's  400 million Pounds debt to Tehran in the case of arms purchases before the Islamic Revolution of Iran is "a separate issue" from the issue of dual-national prisoners.

The British Foreign Secretary's remarks came as former Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said the British government as the court rule says should settle its debts to Iran.
