The northwestern city of Mahabad in West Azerbijan province hosts local games and music festivals to maintain the tradition for young generation.

 Local authorities in the city of Mahabad in West Azerbijan  province,held a festival of local games and music.The aim of the festival is to keep alive the traditional games for young generations.One local authority described the games as a good opportunity for keeping away the kids and teenagers from  some destructive computer games.

"We are playing the traditional music for 45 years. I was just 15 years old ,when I started learning traditional music',said a local musician in Mahabad.

"I learned this traditional art of weaving from my mother.I also trained my children how to weave  traditional artworks", said a local hand-weaving artist.

Most teenagers who were interviewed by Iran Press News Agency described local games as exciting and amusing.They said the pleasure of such games is not comparable with computer games.

A local authority for holding the games said during the festival 7 local games were played .

"The games also contributes the promotion of original  Iranian Islamic Culture",the local official added.
