The Kazakh Foreign Ministry described the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway as a symbol of friendship between the three countries in the region and a new opportunity to further develop international cooperation.

Iran PressAsia: Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement on Monday that this railway is strategically important for the revitalization of the Great Silk Road, the development of mutual trade between Central Asia countries and the Caspian region, and connects the north to the south and the east to the west.  

Construction of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway began in 2009 and was inaugurated in 2014 with the presence of the Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.
