Iran envoy to China meets head of Shanghai Cooperation Organization

Beijing (IP) - Iran's ambassador to China Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh met with the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Vladimir Norov in Beijing on the eve of the SCO Foreign Ministers' meeting in Moscow.

Iran Press/Iran News: Keshavarzzadeh and Norov met in Beijing on Friday to discuss issues related to the development and strengthening of multilateral cooperation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers is scheduled for September 29-30 in Moscow.

During the meeting, Norov noted that the two sides have a high potential for cooperation in various fields, especially in the fields of trade, economy, culture, and humanitarian affairs.

"The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat Development Cooperation Roadmap, which was approved last year at a meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers, is a very good basis for Iran and other countries as members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization family to intensify cooperation with each other," he said.

The Secretary-General of SCO also suggested that Iran organize some of the organization's events, especially in youth affairs, with the participation of think tanks.

The Iranian ambassador for his part said: "Tehran is interested in further strengthening relations with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization."
