Tehran (IP) - The head of the accident investigation board of Iran's civil aviation organization said that Syria is responsible for investigating the US fighter jets' harassment of Iran passenger plane on the Tehran-Beirut route, and investigations have begun.

Iran Press/Iran News: Hassan Rezaeifar stated the investigation of the incident on the flight of the passenger plane of Mahan Airlines on the international flight route of Syria and the injury of some passengers and flight crew was followed up by the Syrian Civil Aviation Organization.

"With the follow-up of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization and sending the necessary information based on the documents of annex 13 of Chicago Convention to the country where the accident took place, today, the Syrian Accident Investigation Committee officially launched an investigation and invited the Iranian Accident Investigation Committees as the owner of the aircraft and the Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) in France as the country where the aircraft was built, to cooperate," he added.

Rezaeifar stated: "Syria, based on this, is responsible for leading the investigation of this incident and publishing a specialized report in this field. Before issuing that report, it will be reviewed by the Iranian Accident Investigation Committee and the necessary documents will be delivered to Syria."

"The final legal action will be taken and sent to international institutions such as ICAO," he concluded.

Following US fighter jets harassing Civilian Flight 1152 of Mahan Airlines over Syrian territory which was en route to Beirut from Imam Khomeini International Airport in the international airspace in the Syrian skies on Thursday 23 July, a number of passengers were injured due to the pilot's reaction to collision prevention.
