Zarif Meet Faiq al-Zidan, Chairman of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Sunday met with Faiq al-Zidan, Chairman of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council, and said that the upcoming visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister to Tehran is the best opportunity to develop relations between the two countries.

Iran PressMiddle East: Zarif said that this trip would be a great opportunity to follow the agreements of Rouhani's visit to Iraq in 2018.

He expressed hope that the Iraqi Prime Minister's visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran on Tuesday this week will be successful and rich with achievements for the two friendly and brotherly nations.

The head of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council also praised the Islamic Republic of Iran's position in support of the Iraqi nation and country, saying that relations with Iran are of great importance.

Al-Zidan added that Iran and Iraq have a lot in common and that the relations between the two countries should be expanded day by day in different areas.

Cooperation and synergy between the two countries in the legal pursuit of the assassination of resistance commanders Lt Gen Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was the main focus of the meeting.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Baghdad on Sunday heading a high-level delegation to meet with Iraqi officials.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran in two separate meetings had talks with the President of Iraq, Barham Salih, and Hadi (Abu Hassan) Hadi al-Amiri, the head of the Iraqi Fatah Alliance as one of Iraqi political Shiite leader on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Baghdad, met the Prime Minister of Iraq to exchange thoughts on developing bilateral ties.

Prior to the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister also met the Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein.

Zarif also met with Leader of Iraq's National Wisdom Movement Seyed Ammar al-Hakim and Faleh Al Fayad, head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Force (PMF).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif held meeting with the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohammad al-Halbousi.

The latest developments in bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, the fight against terrorism, current developments in Iraq and the region were among the most important topics of discussion between the two sides during the meeting.
