Tehran (IP)- Iran's Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare in a message to the Captains of oil tankers delivered fuel to Venezuela, said: "Your heroic deeds in protecting and securing national interests will undoubtedly be recorded in history."

Iran PressIran News: Mohammad Shariatmadari, Iran's Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare wrote in his message to 'Alireza Rahnavard', 'Reza Vaziri', 'Hamidreza Yahya Zadeh', 'Ali Danaei Kenarsari' and 'Mohsen Gohardehi', Captains of oil tankers sent to a mission to Venezuela: "According to Leader of the Revolution, you and your colleagues in the oil tankers sent to Venezuela have made the country proud."

The above-mentined Captains led five Iranian flagged tankers CLAVEL, PETUNIA, FORTUNE, FOREST, and FAXON.

"US action in boycotting you, dear ones, in World Maritime Day, is a sign of their growing helplessness that they have not been able to stop the courageous movement of Iranian crews of the oil tankers from the Persian Gulf to the Caribbean," he added.

The US Treasury Department on June 24, has added five Captains of the Iranian oil tankers, which shipped 1.5 million barrels of oil to Venezuela last month, to its sanctions list for allegedly violating US government unilateral sanctions against Iran.

The US previously sanctioned Iran's Shipping Lines and National Iranian Tanker Company that were used to deliver Iranian gasoline to the Nicola Maduro's government in Venezuela.

Iran has sent five ships carrying 1.5 million barrels of gasoline to Venezuela, and the tankers delivered their cargo to Venezuela.

Despite US officials threatening to block Iranian oil tankers from entering Venezuela, five Iranian oil tankers have docked in Venezuelan ports past month and delivered their fuel to the crisis-hit country.

Following the transfer of Iranian fuel shipments to Venezuela, the Caracas government has been able to start distributing fuel throughout the country under a new system.

The first of five Iranian tankers carrying fuel for gasoline-starved Venezuela entered the South American country’s exclusive economic zone on May 24.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro praised the Iranian government for sending Gasoline which his country seriously needed.

The political crisis in Venezuela exacerbated on January 23, 2019, when Juan Guaido, Venezuelan opposition leader and parliament speaker, whose appointment to that position had been canceled by the country’s Supreme Court, declared himself interim president at a rally in the country’s capital of Caracas.

In recent months, the United States has sought to overthrow the legitimate government of Venezuela, which has an anti-American approach, by threatening, imposing sanctions, putting pressure on Venezuela's economy. An approach that has never been successful.
