Iran Press/ Iran News: The Karakum Desert of Turkmenistan covers an area of 10 million hectares and affects five northern provinces of Iran in the Spring and Autumn.
On Tuesday, Iraj Heshmati, Deputy of Human Environment at Iran's Department of Environment, had a video chat with Babaniyazov Charygeldi Gurbangeldievich, the Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan. During the conversation, they discussed the impact of climate change on the region, specifically the occurrence of dust storms.
The Iranian and Turkmen sides stressed the importance of sharing experiences and conducting field visits to dust centers between the two countries.
The Turkmen Minister stressed the global significance of safeguarding the environment and biological diversity, emphasizing that all countries should cooperate.
Babaniyazov emphasized the importance of developing vegetation to combat dust and desertification and expressed Turkmenistan's willingness to cooperate with Iran and other countries in the region on environmental issues.
