Recent US sanction violates UN Security Council Resolution

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said that US addiction to putting Iranian institutions and national, judicial, and police officials in the sanctions list is a sign of the complete inefficiency of previous US sanctions.

Iran PressIran news: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi stressed that the US regime's addiction to sanctions Iranian officials reflects the country's illegal and arbitrary behavior against international law and order.

He went to say that the US with this illegal policy targets legitimate governments with its hostile policies.

He stated: "The fruitless, repetitive and blind sanctions of the US regime against the Interior Minister, the Commander of the Police Force and other officials of our country are a sign of the weakness, desperation, and confusion of US regime.

Mousavi said: "This sanction is based on the constant illusions and in response to the failures of this regime against the strong will of the government and the people of Iran."

Mousavi added: "The recent sanctions are among the gross violations of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and its obligations under the international law  and the international community must hold the United States accountable for these clear and exorbitant violations."

"By imposing such sanctions, the United States has ignored international law and directly sanctioned individuals and institutions that are linked to the order and security of the Iranian people and, in a larger picture, to the security of the region," Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman concluded.

The United States with its "maximum pressure" campaign, announcing another round of sanctions on Wednesday, targeting Iran's interior minister, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli as well as senior law enforcement officials, over allegations of grave human rights violations.

The US Treasury on Wednesday also blacklisted seven senior officials with the Law Enforcement Forces including commander Hossein Ashtari Fard and a provincial commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
