Tehran (IP)- A joint meeting of the Director-General of the Tehran Waste Management Organization and a representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) was held aimed at increasing cooperation in urban projects, especially waste.

Iran PressIran News: In a meeting with Claudio Providas, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative in Iran on Sunday, Sadreddin Alipour, Waste Management Director of Tehran said that using the office's capacity has a way to come up with the challenges in the field of waste.

He added that based on the assessments, the equipment needed for the new project in the field of waste has been identified and its budget has been provided, but the imposed sanctions against Iran have made it difficult to purchase the equipments.

Referring to the waste field as one of the three priorities of the Tehran Municipality for the current year, Alipour stated: "Tehran Municipality and UNDP cooperation can be a role model for other cities in Iran and this model will be implemented and activated in other cities.

By stressing the UN office's readiness to cooperate with Tehran, Claudio Providas UNDP Resident Representative in Iran added the Islamic Republic of Iran as one of the UN's members has due right to use UNDP's capacities.

Pointing to the organization's cooperation with Iran, particularly after the sanctions, Providas said, "The United Nations Development Program, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, operates in three areas: support for executive programs, facilitation of the purchase of equipment and facilities, and the south-south collaboration.
