Iranian Ambassador to France Bahram Qasemi

Iran’s Ambassador to France referred to the US unilateral sanctions against Tehran and its negative impact on the country's fight against the coronavirus, saying that the world should not neglect the human life to such an extent under the influence of the US' unilateralism.

Iran Press/Europe: Sending separate letters to several top officials and political, parliamentary, cultural and media figures in France, Iran’s ambassador to France Bahram Qasemi referred to the threat of coronavirus pandemic for the international community and said that unilateral, illegal, inhumane and immoral US sanctions prevent Iran from accessing medical, healthcare and medicine goods or any other financial transaction.

Qasemi underlined that the international community should not ignore the lives of humans under the influence of the US unilateralism.

"With a humanitarian point of view, prominent French figures should attempt to stop and lift these sanctions because, given the current situation, these sanctions only target the lives of innocent people in Iran, in the region or even across the world," he noted.

Ever since quitting the multilateral 2015 nuclear deal with Iran in May 2018, US President Donald Trump has been running what he refers to as a “maximum pressure” of sanctions against Tehran.

The American sanctions target both Iran and its international partners, including European countries that seek to engage in trade with the Islamic Republic.

So-called secondary sanctions target foreign companies that do business with Iran. Affected countries, including China, say those bans violate their sovereignty because their bilateral interactions with Iran are targeted by a third country, namely the US.

Coinciding with field-medical and research-medical efforts, Iran is moving forward in the fight against the virus despite cruel and illegal US sanctions.
